Where were the Islands of Immortals?

My works on different topics

General From rather old times (at least, from III millenary BC) different people had a belief in the "lost paradise" - a certain mysterious land or mysterious islands where time as though come to a stop. The perpetual youths reigned there and blissful people lived who never grew old. It was the country of universal health and happiness where nobody knew misfortunes and grieves. Nobody knew there what (it) was crying, and only laughter and noise of universal fun everywhere sounded.
The belief in existence of such country was grounded on numerous ancient legends, mentions of which were saved in many antique sources, and medieval manuscripts. The legends placed this country in the north, in the west, in the east, in the south - depending on, where and when the people storing them lived. The country had numberless quantity of titles, the most known of which were the Land of perpetual happiness and youth, the Land of magicians and sorceresses, the Promised Land or the Land of Promise, the Land under Waves, the Islands of Blissful, the Islands of Blessed, the Islands of Immortal, the Island of sacred Brendan, Hy Brazil, the Elysian Fields, Elysium, the Garden of the Hesperides, Eden, the Apple island, Emain, Inis Avallon or Avallon.
What did this mysterious country represent? Whether it was sometime on the Earth or it was only by a fruit of imagination of searching (for) best life people, striving for immortality? Or, how the majority of philosophers and historians consider, it reflected notions of ancient people of  the Other world and afterlife? Or, how some followers of occult teachings believe, this magic country inhabited by elves, fairies and other fantastic beings, exists and now, only in another dimension?
In my work "Where were the Islands of Immortals" case for all numbered points of view (a really existing country, a place in the Other world) are given, and the hypothesis of presence of the Promised land (the Land of Promise) underground is considered.

For this page Numerous legends, antique and medieval sources refer to the Land of Perpetual Happiness and Youth, the Islands of Immortals, etc. People lived in this country happily and never grew old. What did the Promised Land (the Land of Promise), the Land of Magicians and Sorceresses, Avalon (Avallon) correspond to - whether it was ever on the Earth or it was a fruit of imagination of people longed for immortality?

For centuries, people have been trying to find an answer the question of immortality. This is not surprisingly, because from the very beginning of human history, life expectancy was limited. For generations, people had babies who grew up, gained strength and energy to live, love and create. But time passed, and children themselves become fathers and mothers, then grandparents. And so it went on forever: the birth - death, birth - death ...
How to stop the aging process? How to always stay young and healthy? Such questions certainly asked himself almost every living person on the Earth. For centuries, mankind had been making desperate attempts to find the "elixir of youth" or " an anti-aging medicine." History has brought us a lot for such evidences. But that is the subject of a separate publication. In this paper, I will touch the other question, however, related to the problem of immortality. Its mystery and magnetic force it, perhaps even superior to the quest for immortality.

From a very long time (at least from III millennium BC) different people had a belief in the "lost paradise" - a kind of mysterious land or mysterious islands where time as though come to a stop. There reigned eternal youth and lived blessed people who never grow old. It was a country of universal wellbeing and happiness, where no one knew of troubles and sorrows. There did not know what (it) was crying, and only laughter and noise of universal fun everywhere sounded.

The belief in existence of such country was founded on many ancient legends, mentions of it preserved in many ancient sources, and medieval manuscripts. The legends placed this country now in the north, then in the west, then in the east, then in the south - depending on where and when people lived who stored them.

The country had countless names, the most famous of which were the Land of perpetual happiness and youth, the Land of magicians and sorceresses, the Promised Land or the Land of Promise, the Land under Waves, the Islands of Blissful, the Islands of Blessed, the Islands of Immortal, the Island of sacred Brendan, Hy Brazil, the Elysian Fields, Elysium, the Garden of the Hesperides, Eden, the Apple island, Emain, Inis Avallon or Avallon. According to Celtic mythology, the Holy Grail, the magic sword of King Arthur and many other wonderful things was stored in the country. There's also lied the legendary King Arthur, moved in Avalon by fairy Morgana after the bloody battle in which he was mortally wounded.
In the search for the legendary country many adventurers set off. Some of them died on the way, the other came back empty-handed. History has also brought to us the information about visiting the country by famous historic figures, such as the holy Brendan, but the accuracy of such events has always been in doubt.
What did represent this mysterious country? Whether it did ever exist on Earth or was just a fruit of imagination of seeking a better life and striving for immortality people? Or, according to majority of philosophers and historians, it reflected the views of ancient people about the other world and the afterlife? Or, as some followers of occult teachings believe, this magical country, inhabited by elves, fairies and other fairy tale characters, exists currently, only in another dimension?
My thoughts about this motive I'm going to share. Only ask, do not judge me too harshly, dear readers, if they differ from the representations made up by you earlier. After all, we have too scanty factual material without even the slightest evidence of the existence of the real unknown country. A field for the imagination and flying of fantasy is truly limitless.

The Promised Land - the reminiscences of remote past

In "The Promised Land - the reminiscences of remote past" by A. Koltypin there are considered legends about the Islands (the Land) of Blissful at different people - ancient Greeks, Sumerians, Egyptians, Chineses, Mongols, Indians, and also the biblical legend about the Edenic garden.
On the ground of comprehensive analysis of these legends, averaged characteristic of the Promised land is given:
- It was inaccessible for simple mortals, and/or placed underwater, only periodically occuring from it, or wraped by thick mist;
-  Different grasses, flowers, vegetables, berries and fruits, completely supplying the inhabitants of islands with food, all year long grew on it;
-  Some miracle sources, brooks and rivers were there in abundance;
- It was inhabited; there were different buildings, quays and even cities on it;
- People, inhabiting that land, or other reasonable beings have grasped the secret of immortality. They lived very long and, apparently, did not die from old age (only from violent death);
- Here was never wars, the population lived in peace and consent, without knowing sorrows and griefs;
- other common and specific features, given in the work.
The conclusion is done that the Promised Land (the Land of Promise) represented the real geographical area with unearthly characteristics which could correspond only to the Northern continent of Hyperborea in the Paleocene and Eocene (65,5-34 million years ago)
